Crystal label (UV DTF) application solution

Crystal labels are raised UV labels printed on a release film and applied by peeling and sticking. They work on flat or curved metal, plastic, glass, ceramic, bamboo, leather and paper packaging. This page uses video to show labels on common materials, a long-term outdoor case, and the full production flow from design to printing and cutting.

Labels on common materials

The same crystal label process works on gift boxes and bags, metal tins, small appliances, plastic bags, glass and ceramic ware, leather goods and bamboo or wood. Labels are ready to use once applied, with no separate transfer equipment.

Crystal labels on a car window, gift boxes, a metal tin, a handheld fan, a plastic bag, a glass bottle and a leather card case.

Outdoor case: yacht hull lettering

Direct-glue crystal labels bond firmly and can also be used for outdoor signage. The case below is a yacht's name on its hull.

Yacht name lettering applied in August 2021 and still firmly in place when photographed in September 2024.

From design to finished labels: printing and cutting

Files are named consistently for tracking, the software nests the layout and creates the cut data, and finished prints are sent to the cutter over WiFi. The cutter's camera locates each print, and one printer can feed one or several cutters.

The full flow: file management, automatic nesting, printing, then camera-guided automatic cutting.

Recommended workflow

  1. Design and name files consistently for tracking and after-sales support

  2. Nest the layout automatically and generate the cut data

  3. Print glue, white, colour and varnish in one pass, adding foil or lamination as needed

  4. Send the job to the cutter over WiFi; the camera locates each print and cuts it

  5. Peel off the release film and apply the label to the product

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can crystal labels go on curved surfaces?

Yes. They can be applied to flat or curved surfaces such as vacuum flasks, glass bottles and metal tins.

What equipment does crystal label production need?

A crystal label printer, optionally an all-in-one model with foiling and laminating, plus a cutting machine sized to your output to cut full sheets into single labels.

Can crystal labels be used outdoors?

Direct-glue crystal labels bond firmly; the yacht lettering in this case was still intact after three years outdoors. Weather resistance depends on the material and environment, so we recommend a sample test before production.
